For Thursday 19 March, please read chapter 4 of the We Media Report, "The Rules of Participation." For Tuesday 24 March, please read chapter 3, "How Participatory Journalism is Taking Form."

Your final project is to produce a weblog on one or more topics of your choosing. The project will run from the week after the midterm break until the last day of the term, and students will be required to post a minimum of two substantive entries per week on the weblog.

I encourage students to form groups for their project weblogs. It's more fun and more inspiring to contribute to a weblog to which others also contribute. (We will learn to set up group weblogs in class.) However, for those who wish to do so, doing your weblog solo is also an option.  read more »
